When Lofton Creek Records chief Mike Borchetta met Pat Roper, it was love at
first sight: He loved his voice, he loved his cowboyish good looks and most of all
he loved Pat’s killer, convertible-ready rendition of “Somethin’ Bout That,” a
breezy, sing-along tribute to the youthful joys of small-town living.
“Somethin’ Bout That” is designed for radio. It has the catchy hooks and insistent
beat that keeps listeners involved. The song is written by Ben Hayslip, the cocomposer
of the Jeff Bates’ hit, “Long Slow Kisses” and the current Brooks and
Dunn single entitled “Put A Girl In It.”
Mike also loved Pat’s ability to express himself—and do it with good humor . . .
“He’s a dream interview”.
Pat Roper hails from Hazlehurst, Mississippi, where he grew up on the farm
owned by his paternal grandparents. He was a big Kenny Rogers fan by the time
he was six.
Vern Gosdin (one of Pat’s boyhood idols) and Bluegrass Hall of Famer Mac
Wiseman both are fans of Pat’s music and have praised him publicly.
Like most country singers, Pat has worked his share of soul-killing day jobs to get
his chance at his dream…from mowing lawns to selling cars. He’s learned a lot
along the way be never lost sight of his dream.
If you liked “Chattahoochie” or “Margaritaville” or “Six-PackSummer,” you’ll
love “Somethin’ “Bout That” . . . "this is a winning combination of song, timing
and artist, destined for the Winner’s Circle!!!!" Mike Borchetta, President LCR.
